About the event

The workshop titled "Making Civil Disobedience a Normative Expression of Faithfulness in a Climate Crisis World " will take place during the Parliament of World Religions Conference.

In a world in which the actions of seven generations of humans have jeopardized all future generations of humans and animals, it’s time for civil disobedience to become a normative expression of faithfulness to our creator God. Facilitated by a Protestant denominational leader and Rabbi who have led and participated in numerous acts of non-violent civil disobedience, this intergenerational workshop will explore the joy and freedom of direct action by drawing on personal experience and historical examples. As urgency accelerates and intersectionality becomes more manifest each day, participants will discern how God might be calling them to bear witness.
